How does the Holiday Shop work?

Johnson County Christmas Bureau  offers a 9-10 day Holiday Shop during the month of December. At the Holiday Shop pre-qualified clients shop by appointment. All clients are below 150% of the poverty level and reside in Johnson County, Kansas. The Holiday Shop is similar to a department store. Our Holiday Shop is the original pop-up. Each client is assisted by a volunteer or personal shopping assistant.

After check-in, a personal shopping (volunteer) assistant will greet you and will attach your name to your shopping cart. Although your assistant will push the shopping cart, each shopper visiting the Holiday Shop has the dignity of selecting their own merchandise. While they Christmas Shop through each department their personal shopping assistant will also guide shoppers through each department.

  • Groceries – enough for 2 to 3 days of fully balanced  meals
  • Personal Care Items - such as laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, diapers, toilet paper, hygiene products, toothbrushes and more
  • Toys - for children ages 0-10 (often this is the only holiday gift a child receives)
  • Teen Gifts - age appropriate items for teenagers
  • Books – a large selection of books for all ages

  • Nursing Homes - nursing homes connect with us on behalf of medicaid residents.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

To open a department store for thousands of families takes all year long to collect donations of gifts, funds and time. We appreciate all those companies, nonprofits and individuals that gives JCCB that and more.

Consider donating a monthly gift of $5, $50 or $500 a month.

No gift is too small.

Thank you for Supporting JCCB
